Rockin R Ranch
We LOVED the Rockin' R Ranch. I really like the way it was organized. Each family is assigned to a room. Ours had 2 beds and our own bathroom. Trev slept down the hall in the older cousins room. Each day there are activities planned and you just look for your family name on the huge activity board. Since the Allen family is large sometimes activities were done over a couple days to let everyone have a chance. Each meal is served at a specific time and the food was great. Did I mention every meal is made for you? When there is not an activity scheduled you can swim or canoe in the pond, you can play on the playground, you can go pet the bunnies, archery, or go on a pony ride. Scheduled activities were family lawn games, family line dancing, campfire night, wagon ride, horseback riding, hiking, and going down the river in a tube. Each of us had different favorites, but the absolute highlight was the family rodeo. Trevor did the barrel racing. Eric did the pole racing. The boys and Eric participated in the family rodeo relay while I took pictures. Hilarious! There are many competitive spirits in the group so game on. Of course there was muttin' bustin. The children get on a sheep (with protective gear) and hold on for dear life until they fall off. A mom's favorite moment? Not so much. The next rodeo activity was calf riding for the men. Trey stood in front of Eric, hugged him, and begged him not to do it. Ryan went first and was thrown off in seconds. It was not a pretty sight. He was in pain. Remember the competitive spirit thing...it was now a brother's duty to ride. Horrible. Anyway, lots to laugh and talk about in years to come. I think it was just such a fun place to be with the activities planned with families in mind. The staff is amazing and in just a short time you know them because you see them everyday. I also enjoyed all the other families there. Some from the United States and some from Italy and Germany. Thinking about a family reunion? Consider Rockin R Ranch.
