Farewell to February

We were lucky enough to have Carson, Ashley, Jaxon, Madi, and Ava come for a visit. They brought us dinner and I am still craving that salsa. Super fun to have some extra time with them.

Valentine's Day was great! After helping with Tyler's class party I wanted to go home and throw away the candy I got for them, but I worked so hard to make them cute. (idea straight from Pebbles) Eric spoiled me with roses and a book. Let the Despicable Me quotes continue. Plus, we got so many cards and photographs.

The boys had school off and we went up to Eric's work for the first time and had lunch with him and a tour. The boys are still talking about it and want to go again for a surprise visit.

Here's Trevor's creation for the Blue and Gold Scout Dinner. He did a great job frosting it. The fun part was that the blue frosting leaves a wonderful blue tint to your teeth and lips which Tyler loved.

We made it! We got to a BYU game and it was awesome! You may see more from your own tv but you can't beat all the energy. That place just explodes. There were some amazing shots and a slam dunk.

Favorite conversation from the month.

Trev "Mom, Dad, it is precipitating." We start laughing.

Trev "Why are you guys laughing?"

Me "Well, most people just say, hey it's raining."

Trev "It is precipitating though, and then it is going to evaporate, there will be condensation, and the cycle will continue...he then laughed and started saying it again

Tyler "And this will continue until the earth is destroyed."

Parent Teacher Highlights

Some wonderful comments about Trevor's artistic ability and friendships. Thrilled he has a teacher with a great sense of all the students, their strengths, and even what concerns they have.

Tyler has a great imagination and has no shortage of ideas for stories. When his teacher asked him to tell her his story he did so with enthusiasm and theatrics. She then saw that nothing was written on his paper to which he explained that he had used invisible ink.

Classic.

I could write that I did laundry and made dinner sometimes, but who wants to read about that:)

Pioneer Woman

Last January or beginning of Feb. I picked up Pioneer Woman Cooks from the library. I saw it recommended in a magazine. Loved all the stories, photographs, and the recipes looked divine. It reminded me of all the times people would say "you should of been born in Idaho because of your love of comfort food."

I then discovered her blog. Oh dear, I loved that too. I then found out that the book was recent enough that she had visited Salt Lake in December. Bummer.

Since then I have read her blog regularly, received the cookbook as a gift, and read her newest book Black Heels to Tractor Wheels (which is her own love story) AND I HAVE MET HER.

Things I enjoy about her:

• her cooking (I had to put that first since that is how I found out about her)


• her adoration for her husband and children is obvious


• her love extends to all her family and dear friends


• she is optimistic and content


• she has an authentic voice which makes it so fun to read her blog (it really is pretty funny)


• she won the Throwdown against Bobby Flay and with a Thanksgiving Dinner no less


• she lives in Oklahoma which is so different from me


• she homeschools


• she is a total girl from her love of shoes to jewelry and make up.


• her photography is stunning. One day I will have a camera with the capability to get a close up of my children's faces. Until then I admire the posts.


• all her cooking. Really.

She is just as charming and down to earth as you would imagine.

Thrilled to have a girls night out with Lori. We talked, waited, listened to her answer questions, met the people around us, waited, talked, met her (Yippee), and went to dinner. No one served us Chicken fried steak with potatoes and gravy, but Cheesecake Factory did not disappoint.

Family Time

• I did something to help Tyler along with his eating. Boys choice for dinner night. Tyler said he wanted circle chips with dots on them. (BBQ). His dinner of choice was hot dogs, BBQ chips, Sprite, apples and carrots. Trevor's dinner of choice was steak, shrimp, corn and Eric's bread. I enjoyed Trevor's more;) Tyler, at least he got a coin for his jar that night. He didn't even touch Trevor's dinner.
• I worked a litte bit on a quilt and finished the heart garland. I copied that straight from Better Homes and Garden.

• "The receipt says I have spent $45 but out of pocket only $2 with $30 left in up rewards" Does that sentence make sense to you? It is coupon talk. What it means to me is that Eric is very good with coupons and if anyone wants ice cream, we have plenty.
  
• White Collar is a great show.
  
• Thursday Mom and I got to be together for the afternoon and so all the boys got to see her. Friday Todd, Kelsey, Storm, and Mom came over. It was nice just to be together...toys, talking, napping, and Just Dance 2. Saturday Mom and I shopping and over to Trevor's basketball game and then later dinner with everyone at Pizza Factory. Love being with family.
